The Hot Rodded Humbuckers are from Seymour Duncan one of the foremost recognisable pickup brands globally.
So the story goes, Seymour himself was involved with pickups used by Hendrix, from there the legend grew. SD pickups are found both standard and retrofitted In every type of guitar.
The Hot Rodded Humbuckers produce heavy tones best suited for rock but, they work very well for other genres too. For example, the Jazz neck pickup does exactly what it says on the tin, Jazz, very well indeed and is Seymour’s own favourite pickup. The pair can reach very high gain tones but also suit blues nicely too. For these reasons, they’re known as one of the most versatile sets on the market.
Although the appearance is plain glossy black, the white Seymour Duncan stamp clearly defines what you’re looking at!
The Hot Rodded Humbuckersare high output pickups with the bridge measuring at 16.6k however the Neck is just 7.5k. This results in a volume jump between the two, it’s normal to see the neck pickup closer to the strings. This approach helps to even out the overall tones however the jump can be used as a natural solo boost from the bridge.
The Hot Rodded Humbuckers have been on the market for around 40 years now and have been used by many artists and appeared on many albums. This is of course in part thanks to their versatility but also due to the great tones these pickups are capable of.
