What you should know about the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff V3

The Version 3 Big muffs (1976-79) were the first muffs to have an AC power in, and some featured a tone bypass switch. The pedal features familiar red and black paint job featuring the Pi symbol that is unique to it. 

Regardless of this look, the very first V3s had no AC jack, no tone bypass, and the circuit was the same as the V2 Big Muff. Though, this Big Muff V3 gives you all of these years after the first version and more. 

Great bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Dinosaur Jr., Bush, and many others used the first version of this Big Muff. These bands used it to create popular rock sounds in the 1990s. 

This version has a battery, runs on a 9V voltage, and features BC-239 transistors. It is an analog device with an average weight of 0.7Kg and dimensions of 12.7cm (Width), 8.25cm (Height), and 17.15 cm (Depth). 

In this rare muff, you can find the same circuit in a V2 Ram’s head edition, making it a nice piece of Pi.
